Three Reasons Why Video Should Be in Your Marketing Strategy
NOV 1, 2017
ANDREW DIAZ
We’re lucky to live in digital age where we carry devices on a daily basis with instant access to endless information, news, and social media. Nowadays, videos are becoming increasingly accessible to an ever-growing audience. Before, video marketing was only considered for television and film platforms. However, with the introduction of commercially-available broadband internet in the 2000s, we’ve been introduced to video-sharing platforms for desktop, such as YouTube. Now, in 2017, there are a plethora of social media platforms, apps, and websites with billions of daily users.
That leads us to say this: video marketing should be a part of your marketing strategy. Why’s that? Well, let us explain…
1. Seeing is believing
Think about it, whether you’re trying to solve a problem with a DIY project, learning how to grow your home garden, or trying to learn a new dance move, you’ve probably watched an explainer video before. According to the video production company Wyzowl, 98% of users in 2016 have watched an explainer video when they were stumped. The same principle applies with explaining your business or product to clients — videos explain everything with exceptional ease and interest.
We worked with Launchboard last year to help them prove that seeing truly is believing.
2. Expand to a broader international audience
There could be many barriers that connect you to your future clients; one of these could even be a language barrier. As the world globalizes, more and more people are learning our international lingua franca, English. However, less than 15% of the world’s population speaks English. What if your client base is diverse and doesn’t speak the same language you work in? Video marketing is an excellent tool for reaching to international clients who don’t necessarily speak the same language. With video marketing, your audience can connect and understand your company’s goals through body language, animation, and video tone/mood without the need for written or spoken language.
Amazon Prime has an excellent ad campaign, regardless of language.
3. People are viewing videos now more than ever
And this trend is one that isn’t going to stop. 75% of Canadians owned smartphones in 2016, and YouTube has reported that mobile video consumption rises 100% every year, since 2013. As more and more people own smartphones and have access to the internet on the go, general video audience rises and will only keep doing so. These figures don’t even mention the millions of videos viewed every day on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.
More than 75% of Canadians own smartphones, which are becoming increasingly popular to view videos.
